This stunning, prep-ahead appetizer will transport you and your guests on a mini vacation to the Italian countryside.
1 package (8oz) cream cheese
½ cup oil packed sun dried tomatoes, chopped
¼ cup prepared basil pesto (find it in the pasta sauce aisle)
¼ tsp Pepper
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
¾ cup shredded cheese
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll puff pastry on a floured surface.
Beat cream cheese, tomatoes, Italian seasoning and basil pesto until smooth.
Spread mixture onto rolled out puff pastry, leaving out ½ inch before reaching the edges.
Roll it up. If butterfly shapes are desired, roll the top and bottom portion until they meet in the middle.
Cover with plastic wrap and place in freezer for 30 minutes (to make cutting less messy) or until the day of the party. If frozen solid, let it defrost for 30 minutes.
Bake on parchment paper for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
